Literature Text

A thin man with raven black hair, a green shirt, and black jeans walks leisurely down the street. It feels so good to get out. He has been forced to stay in a building filled with imbeciles. Forced to stay under their watch. Few occasions does he manage to escape and enjoy a short lived freedom.

He pauses for a moment at a dark alley, thinking he heard a small high pitched cry of pain. He takes a step to continue past but hears the sound again. Curious, he starts to cautiously walk down the alley. His keen eyes take in every detail. Tin trash cans and bits of rubbish, nothing interesting. Nothing, until he hears the cry again and a glass bottle rolls out from behind a trash bin.

The man stands alert, watching the spot, waiting to see movement. When he fails to see any, he takes a couple of slow steps forward. He carefully peers around the bin and is confused by what he sees. What seems to be a small ball of fur is curled up behind the bin. He watches it intently when suddenly it moves. Its piercing eyes meet his own before it lets out another cry.

"Hello there mortal creature. Are you injured?"

The creature's ears twitch at his remark. It stands but stubbles slightly to the left.

"Come to me." The man holds out his hand to the furry creature.

Its back arches and a hiss escapes its mouth.

"You vile creature. I need not waste my time on you." The man stands and turns to walk away. He is stopped by another cry. He turns back to the creature with a scowl. "What is it? Do you want my help or not? Are you so dull as to not be able to decide?"

The creature steps forward and swishes its long tail. The man bends down and holds his hand out. The creature rubs its face against his hand and lets out a rumbling sound from its throat. Unlike its hiss, this does not sound angry. The man reaches his other hand out and picks up the creature. He runs his hand over its body and is surprised by how soft its fur is, considering it was in a dirty alley.

You lean against the man. The way he spoke was strange and made you uneasy. Mortal creature? You have never heard anyone refer to another living thing in such a way. You have no choice though. Your leg is hurt but you can't go home. All you can do is rely on this man.

Almost as soon as you become comfortable in his arms, you look up and feel bleary. Once your senses return, you see you are no longer in the dark alley. You are now in a neat room. Were you drugged? The man feels you tense in his arms.

"Don't worry. I brought you to my home so I could treat you."

You jump out of the man's arms but stumble and cry in pain when you land. You look down at your left leg and lick at the injury, trying to ease the pain.

"See what you've done. You are worsening your injury the more you resist me."

He picks you up again and walks through a nearby door that leads into a restroom. He turns on the sink's water and places you inside. You let out a relieved sigh as the cool water eases the pain. You dip your face in and shake the water off.

"Watch it." The man puts his hand up to block any water from hitting him.

You look up at him and quietly stick your tongue out. His expression changes from that of anger to confusion. Of course he'd be confused. No other animal purposely sticks their tongue out at someone. You smirk and go back to bathing yourself under the faucet’s running water. You jump and bump your head on it when you hear a pounding nearby.

"Loki! Loki, you better be in there!"

Loki? As in the mythological god?

The man being called Loki grumbles and walks out of the restroom. You allow your acute ears to listen to what you cannot see. You hear the man walk across the room you were previously in and open a door. You then hear another man talking. You can't quite make out what he is saying so you turn off the water.

"Where have you been?" The other man's voice sounds familiar for some reason.

"I have been here, in my room." The man who took you in replies.

"Don't lie to me. Your duplicate faded right in front of me. Now where were you?"

Duplicate? What the hell is going on here?

"As I said, I have been here in my room. I only created the duplicate so that the rest of you would leave me alone."

You hear the door close and steps returning towards you. You see the raven haired man wear a triumphant grin.

    "Done bathing?"

The man turns and grabs a towel from the rack behind him. He places it on the counter and you step out of the sink onto it. He starts to rub you down with it, drying you as best he can, starting with your head then massaging your neck and back with the towel. He was being surprisingly gentle considering his foul mood earlier. You find it so pleasurable that you can't contain the content rumbling from escaping your throat.

"What is that sound? You can't be angry. I'm helping you."

The man looks you over then disappears right before your eyes. You jump back and bump into something, causing a toothbrush to fall to the ground. You look down at the thing as it clatters then back up and jump again when you see the man appear in front of you again.

"I brought that annoying man's hair drier and took a medical kit." He holds up the two things then looks at you as you cower away.

You shouldn't be surprised. You had to have known there were people like him out there in the world but actually meeting one is surprising.

The man seems to dismiss or not notice your fear and plugs in the hairdryer. He holds it out but nothing happens. He turns it on his hands and pushes a switch. It turns on, blowing air in his face and causing him to flinch.  This causes you to relax and chuckle at him, which actually sounds more like short rapid breaths. What kind of person doesn't know how a hair drier works?

He finally turns it towards you, after cursing the devise, and blows warm air at you. You smile as the air runs over and dries your wet fur. After finishing, you look at yourself in the mirror and are horrified at the frizzy fuzz ball you have become. You lick your paw and smooth out your fur.

"Here is the kit. I don't know what any of this is so I shall improvise." He takes out a band aid and unwraps it. You rush to the edge of the counter and whack it out of his hand. "What did you do that for you cretin? Fine, do it yourself." The man tosses the first aid kit in front of you and walks out.

After struggling for a while, you manage to clean your cut leg. After struggling again for much longer, you finally give up on wrapping it with a bandage. You pick it up in your mouth and leap off the counter. You cringe at your landing but brush it off and prance into the room. You see the man sitting on his bed with a book.

You walk over and look up. It looks like a pretty tall bed from where you are.  You wiggle your behind and leap up. You have to extend your claws to keep from slipping and almost drop the bandage. You manage to pull yourself up and drop the bandage to pant slightly. You pick it up again and walk over to the so called Loki. As you move towards him, you notice how soft the sheets are. They're softer than velvet and your paws comfortably sink in with each step. You almost want to just lay there and sleep but you have to get this bandage on. You continue until you reach the man's leg and paw at it. He looks down at you over his book with a raised brow.

    "What do you want, vermin?"

"Merrooow~." You continue to paw at him.

He lets out a sigh and places his book to the side. He picks you up and grabs the bandages.

    "Hold out your leg."

You hold it out and he wraps it. He holds the pins at the end in confusion but you push them in place for him.

"There. That's pretty good if I do say so myself."  He beams down at you in pride.

His smile takes you by surprise. It catches you off guard since he's been frowning since you met him. He’s actually really handsome. You get the urge to cuddle with him so you decide to take advantage of your form and lean against him and lie down. He raises a brow at you before placing a hand between you and him and sliding you away.

"Don't get so close to me, vermin." He picks up his book and begins to read again.

You watch him silently for a few moments before resting your head on your paws with a pout.

Never mind. He's not that good looking.

So I figure Loki wouldn't know much about earth animals so he doesn't know what you are and he never actually introduces himself to you (cus why introduce yourself to a dull creature?) so you don't know his name. That's why he's just "the man". Not to be mistaken for "The Man" - Revamp
I kind of had the idea in my head but for some reason :iconprinceofredroses:'s Just lonely Loki made me want to put my idea into play. It really has nothing to do with the drawing but still, Loki with a cat? Too cute.
